Welcome to our site.

We are an Italian Club located in Kelowna.  The Galileo Lodge  Okanagan  was welcomed into the fraternal Order Sons of Italy of Canada on  June 9, 2012,  by the National President, Josie Cumbo and National Recording Secretary, Tina Destro when they visited the Okanagan Region and installed the new lodge.  

The Galileo Lodge is the first lodge of the Order  founded in British Columbia.

This Lodge is open to Italian descendants, married to a person of Italian birth or descent,  and also to anyone interested in the Italian heritage and culture with various levels of membership.   

The  Order Sons of Italy of Canada is an organization devoted to the Italian heritage, community service and charitable good works.  Our Mission Statement is:

  • Service and Charity To assist the needy, the ill, and disabled through financial support, the provision of housing and other support programs,
  • Community Involvement – To encourage the active participation of our members in the political, social and economic life of our community, to participate in programs combating discrimination, racism, and social injustice,
  • Heritage – To promote and preserve the Italian language, culture, and traditions in our country.

In Canada, our history started in 1915 when the first lodge in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario,  was established.   There are  currently fifteen Lodges in Canada. 

The Order Sons of Italy was formed in New York City in 1905 by Dr. Vincenzo Sellaro.  USA,   The Order Sons of Italy in America has more than 600,000 members and a network of more than 650 chapters coast to coast.
